Morocco is an exhilarating, intoxicating country brimming with beauty and surprise. Nothing can quite prepare you for the visual feast that Morocco provides, with its magical countryside, sensational desert, breathtaking architecture and welcoming, colourful people. Why Visit Morocco? One of the main reasons to visit Morocco is its variety. For many visitors it’s the four great cities of Morocco’s imperial past: Fes, Marrakesh, Meknes and Rabat, with their breathtaking bespoke characters that bring them to the country. In these cities, Morocco’s fascinating heritage comes alive and thrives; monuments can be explored, including mosques and Universities (known as medersas) that are often surrounded by the maze-like car-free narrow streets of a medina quarter, or by bustling markets. Some visit Morocco for it's scenery, the breathtaking heights of the awe-inspiring snow-capped High Atlas mountains peppered with traditional villages, the great river valleys of the South with their magnetising red-earth Kasbahs (citadels) and the vast expanse of the majestic, mesmerising desert drawing them to the country. For others it’s the Atlantic coast sprinkled with tranquil towns such as Essaouira, with its definite European influence, occupation and elegance, that makes Morocco impossible to resist! It is the blend of an envious location with diverse geography that captures the hearts and souls of many visitors, bringing them back time and time again. The country exudes exoticism; uniquely absorbing and embracing a magnificent mix of European, Eastern and African cultures, flavours and personalities. Put simply, it is like no other country in the world! Where is Morocco?Morocco stands at the Western edge of the Arab and Muslim world and is situated at the junction between Africa, Europe and the Middle East, having international borders with Algeria to the east and Spain to the north. The country is geographically diverse. For starters, it is uniquely traversed by four mountain ranges from north to south that includes Rif, the Middle Atlas, The High Atlas and the Anti-Atlas. What’s more, in the extreme south, at the end of the Anti-Atlas Mountains, eroded gorges magically transform into endless sand to create the captivating Sahara Desert. When should you visit Morocco?Morocco is one of those unique places that can be
visited all year round. The most popular times are during spring
(April to May) and autumn
(September to October). However, if you want to go midsummer, an idea
is to venture to the coast, where the temperature is hot but enjoyable.
If you would like to visit in the winter, venture to Marrakesh and
further south and explore Morocco’s dynamism in comfortable cooler
temperatures. |
